Frequently Asked Questions

What is your theoretical approach to treatment?

As a practice, we utilize a therapy-coaching model in order to provide our clients with a holistic approach to self-empowerment.  We collaborate with our clients to identify the best methods to meet their needs and to help overcome challenges that arise along the way. Our therapists are not limited in their theoretical approaches because we want to ensure each client receives treatment that works to address their individual needs. In practicing from this approach, we recognize that one specific theoretical orientation may not work for every client.  To ensure the best treatment, we work to get a thorough understanding of each clients' needs in order to formulate the best approach.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Because our rates are highly competitive and lower than most therapists, we generally only offer sliding scale rates on a very limited case by case basis.

Are you accepting children or adolescent clients?

We are! At this time, we are accepting adolescent clients age 12 and up. We are able to make referrals for clients below this age.

If we sign up for couples counseling, can we see the therapist for individual counseling as well?

Cases like this are determined on an individual basis. In most cases, the therapists will consult and determine whether the individual treatment will be appropriate in-house or whether it will require a referral.

Do you offer in-person services?

When we were founded in 2019, we wanted to be able to provide services to clients without physical limitations and constraints. We believe that by providing virtual services, clients are provided with the care they need regardless of their location and without barriers. As a result of this philosophy, we do not offer in-person services to our clients.

Do you accept insurance?

How long does each therapy session take?

Therapy sessions vary depending on the client. Individual session rates generally last 45 minutes to 60 minutes while the average time for therapy involving more than one individual typically may be longer. Yolo Therapy's rates are based on the times indicated on the Services Details page.

Can you help with prescriptions?

No, we do not provide prescriptions for medications.

Do you have after hours crisis care available for clients?

As outpatient private providers, we do not provide after hours crisis care to our clients. If you find yourself in crisis, please call 988 or 911 or visit our 'Resources' page.

Great question! We primarily accept private pay clients with limited availability for insurance clients. Clients with insurance are encouraged to reach out to us directly to check the availability of insurance covered services. Insurance plans currently accepted include: BCBS, Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, Optum/United, and Humana. For those with insurance coverage that is not covered by our practice, we are happy to work clients in utilizing their out-of-network (OON) insurance benefits if available.  While we can't assist clients with determining coverage and OON availability, we are happy to provide supporting documentation to clients who have verified their benefits.
